Updates in e-Waybill System about Enrollment and 2FA

The e-Waybill System has recently undergone some important updates that cater to the needs of Enrolled Transporters, Common Enrolled Taxpayers and Cancelled Taxpayers. The new features and functionalities to enhance the user experience and streamline the e-waybill process relates to de-enrolment for transporters, cancellation of common enrolment, login for cancelled taxpayers and the implementation of 2 Factor Authentication (2FA).

De-enrolment for Transporters

Transporters who have registered in the e-Waybill Portal using their Enrolment (based on PAN) now have the option to de-enrol themselves from the e-Waybill System. This feature is designed for those transporters who no longer wish to continue using the e-waybill system. By de-enrolling, they will lose access to the e-Waybill portal.

It’s important to note that once a transporter is de-registered, their Transporter ID cannot be used in e-Waybills. Additionally, the Part-B details cannot be updated for the de-registered Transporter ID. This feature allows enrolled transporters to easily de-register from the EWB system if needed.

Cancellation of Common Enrolment

Some taxpayers may have opted for common enrolment but no longer wish to continue using the common enrol ID. For such taxpayers, a facility to cancel their common enrolment has been provisioned. This feature allows taxpayers to de-register from common enrolment if they desire to do so.

Once the common enrolment ID is cancelled, it cannot be used to update transporter details. However, the Part-B details can still be updated for the e-waybills that were assigned with the common enrolment ID before the cancellation. Please note that a time limit of 1 month will be provided after the cancellation of common enrolment. After this period, the login will be blocked, and no further activity can be performed in the e-Waybill system.

However, once the common enrol ID is cancelled, the user can log in again using the credentials of their GSTIN and generate e-waybills.

Login for Cancelled Taxpayers

GST registered taxpayers now have the option to log in to the e-Waybill system even after the cancellation of their GSTIN. This login facility is provided to allow users to download their e-waybills before their login is locked. It’s important to note that this login facility after cancellation is available for a limited period of 1 month. However, during this period, no activities such as EWB generation, Part-B updation, transporter updation, etc., will be allowed. The user can only view and download the EWB reports.

2 Factor Authentication

To enhance the security of e-waybill login access, the e-Waybill system has enabled 2 Factor Authentication (2FA). Initially, this feature is optional but will become mandatory after 1 month. It is advised that users operating the e-waybill system from multiple locations and with a single credential create sub-users immediately. This ensures a higher level of security and helps prevent unauthorized access to the e-Waybill system.

Conclusion

The latest updates in the e-Waybill system bring significant improvements and additional features to benefit Enrolled Transporters, Common Enrolled Taxpayers and Cancelled Taxpayers. The introduction of de-enrolment for transporters and cancellation of common enrolment provides flexibility for users who no longer wish to utilize these services. The login facility for cancelled taxpayers allows them to access and download their e-waybills before their login is locked. Finally, the implementation of 2 Factor Authentication (2FA) strengthens the security of the e-waybill system, with it being made mandatory after 1 month or so. Users who operate the e-waybill system from multiple locations are advised to create sub-users immediately to ensure a higher level of security and prevent unauthorized access.
