CBIC has extended the due date for filing of monthly/quarterly GSTR-3B return for September/ July~September 2025 to 25th October 2025, as per Central Tax Notification 17/2025.
The original due dates were falling on 20th, 22nd and 24th October 2025, which were conflicting with the Holidays and Diwali celebrations. This left taxpayers and professionals with very little time to prepare and file.
Professional bodies like ICAI and BCAS requested/represented before the CBIC seeking this extension. They pointed out that filing GSTR-3B involves a lot of work, such as reconciliation, data entry, checking Input Tax Credit (ITC) eligibility (which often depends on GSTR-2B generated after the 14th), and arranging funds for tax payment. During the festive season, staff availability, support services, and banking access are limited, making compliance schedule compressed and harder.
The ICAI also noted that recent GST rate changes, effective September 22, 2025, added extra work like reconciliations and system updates, increasing the compliance burden.
